Deschutes Obsidian Stout

As with most offerings I have tried from Deschutes (Bend, Oregon) this is a solid if unspectacular stout. Pitch black with a peaty, roasted malt taste. 6.4% ABV which is perhaps on the higher range for a stout but nonetheless a satisfying offering.

  1. Deschutes seems to be the west coast equivalent of Summit. One can walk into nearly any place with tap lines and be assured that there will be a Deschutes offering. Not to knock either brewery as they both produce solid beers but when you see their "standard" beers everywhere sometimes you take them for granted.
